The Northern Illinois University United Faculty Alliance are the tenure-track and tenured faculty at Northern Illinois University. By uniting the faculty to enhance democratic representation at NIU, we work to ensure our voice in shared governance. This shared governance is fully realized through collective bargaining that empowers the faculty to secure working conditions that provide a better environment for the entire university.

With enhanced rights, the NIU-UFA is an independent and effective body that ensures professional salaries, rational allocation of resources, and a democratic voice for the faculty. We effectively contribute to making NIU a fairer and more equitable workplace. As a union, we are guided by a vision that education is the foundation of a democratic society, and we believe that working together we can best ensure academic freedom, produce excellent scholarship and artistry, and provide a better future for our campus.
